Parliament Building – Athens

Just in front of the Parliament Building of Athens,
the famous evzones keep guard.

They are soldiers in the traditional attire of the rebels
who won the war of independence from
the Ottoman Empire.

Evzones are selected from the tallest
and handsomest men in the military.

The changing of the guard takes place
every hour and it’s an interesting ritual!

  1. Very cool. Watching the changing of the guard is fun. I happened to see it in London and Prague and neither one was planned. I just happened to be walking by. 🙂

I'm curious how long it took for you to get to Greece?

  6. These are really nice to see. I have not seen them except on film. But you had a chance and came away with some really nice pictures.

Is your daughter at the age where she sees beauty in all boys or most boys? Our granddaughter is only 9 and she seems that way with boys her age in school. She had a new friend each week.

  7. Of course you hardly noticed these men with the handsome Cezar by your side. These are wonderful images. Thank you for sharing your travels with us. I'm learning so much.

  8. That's a huge building! I love that you were high enough to catch the green rocky outcrop in the background. And the lovely pink and lavender sky.

Very interesting traditional uniform. Funny shoes — I wonder what use that tuft ball was supposed to serve.
