Bay turret with the Luxembourg "motto"

The Rue de la Loge conveys an impression
of the medieval conditions in the city.
This is building n. 6 and
it gives us some idea of an early atmosphere,
with the beautiful turret.

The turret, which gave the inn its present name
“Zum Roten Turm” is decorated with the national
coat of arms and the motto of the Luxembourg people
“Mir wölle bleiwe wat mir sin”
-we wish to remain what we are-

  1. Oh Leia how I love this photo….my favorite part is the gas lantern on the side of the building with all the iron work! Stunning and so perfectly vintage…
Much love to sweet Luna and thank you for your precious friendship!

  2. J'adore ces vieilles ruelles. Celle-ci est particulièrement charmante et me fait dire que forcément Luxembourg ressemble à ses voisins allemand et de l'Est de la France… Très joli billet ! Bon weekend !

  3. I like this motto! Strong and simple at the same time. And I like the mood of this kind of old place, I like to go back in the past …with the safety of today. Ü
    Have a nice week-end!

  6. You've really captured the old-fashioned feel of the place. It's an interesting inscription…and upon pondering, very true. I also think it's wonderful that the old buildings are so well taken care of.

Here is one of my favorite wall inscriptions http://folkestonedailyphoto.blogspot.com/2008_07_14_archive.html.

  7. I was only one time in Luxembourg, several decades ago, coming from the US and stayed overnite, and next day boarded the train to go to Holland.

In that short time we bought a beautiful blanket there (I still have).

  8. Two very impressive photos of a beautiful place. I like the motto, too. Like the fall leaf being blown by the wind said, “Leaf me alone!”
