Weekend Reflections – Stadtwaage – Bremen

Stadtwaage building reflecting flowers nearby.
– the former weigh house built in 1588,
with ornate Renaissance Facade –

At the end of the Second World War the “Stadtwaage” was a bombed-out ruin, a reconstruction seemed impossible. But from 1958 till 1961 the “Sparkasse of Bremen”
(savings bank) reconstructed the house. On the ground floor we find an office of this
company and on the upper floor was installed a celebration hall for cultural events.

  3. Your photos, as usual, are stunning! 'Tis a very interesting building. I wonder if that entrance facade was reconstructed also, or if perchance that was left undamaged by the bombs.

I like the ornate solidness of this structure. In the first shot, which is a superb reflection, the flowers almost appear to be on some kind of altar, with altar cloths draped on either side.

I don't see how that can be, but that's what it looks like.

This is an excellent post in every way.

Re your comments: No golf today, but tomorrow for sure!

Have a wonderful weekend filled with love and happiness!

  4. Glad you liked the poem! No fishing today. In fact, I no longer go fishing. Today is a long bike ride (well, 10-12 miles or so)…then it's practice on the golf driving range!
