Holy Cross Bridge – Feldkirch, Austria

The Holy Cross Bridge in Feldkirch in Austria,
over the ILL River, built in 1250, contained one semicircular
arch of 20 meters and 3,5 meters wide,
which was replaced in 1898.

Over an alpine river with fantastic emerald waters.

  1. That water looks as cool and fresh as wintergreen. And I find it very hard to believe, dear Leia, that you are much over 17 yourself. It is impossible for me to imagine you the mother of a 17 year old. She should feel very lucky to have such good genes.

  2. Leia, this is a breathtaking photo, the color of the water looks so fresh and beautiful that would be a great view to wake up too every morning. You made my day with your comment about looking too young to be a grandmother(I'll love you forever)as if you look old enough to have children your age's.I guess all my oil of olay products and exercise are working.

  4. I forgot about that 22 year old son of yours. I'm still shaking my head. I have two daughters, 31 and 28 years old, and the moment they leave my arms and travel back to their own adult lives my ams ache until the next time they return.

  6. You've stretched my imagination with this one. I wonder if the scene in 1250 was similar to what we see here? In my mind I can see families, peddlers, farmers, animals, etc., trudging over the bridge…what a procession!

It's an incredibly beautiful sight. Merci!

(And you do realize, of course, that I was born after 1250!)

  7. Can't imagine a circular bridge built in 1250, they must have been so smart. I have a student from Austria and he is very smart.

  8. I'm not accustomed to seeing water that color, it's beautiful! I recently posted a shot of a bridge that is closing and was built in 1838. Obviously, our forefathers did not bring their bridge building skills when they traveled from Europe.
