Weekend Reflections – Oslo Opera House, Norway

The Oslo Opera House  is the seat of The Norwegian National Opera
and Ballet, and the national opera theatre in Norway.

The construction started in 2003 and the Opera House was finished in

2007 with the opening event held on 12 April 2008.
King Harald V of Norway opened the Opera House that evening at a gala
performance attended by national leaders and royalty.

This is the building reflected on the glass of the Opera.

  3. So you have been to Norway? I hope you enjoyed the stay!

Incidentally, the firm (Snøhetta) that designed the Oslo Opera also designed the new Library in Alexandria and is involved in the construction of the new memorial in New York.

  7. It looks more an airport terminal than an opera house, but the building is really amazing and fascinating.

  9. Tiens, j'allais dire que je ne me souvenais pas de ce beau bâtiment moderne, c'est parce-que je suis allée en Norvège en 1999 et 2000 ! Le reflet est très beau. Merci encore d'avoir posté mes liens et bon weekend !

  10. This is an impressive set of photos. I really like the angles and how you set them up. The building is unique and attractive in its own way – but does look sort of like a huge airplane about to take off.

This area must be rather bleak-looking in the mid-winter…you think?

  11. I suppose you haven't been to the Oslo Blogger meeting which was mid August. I have seen this Opera house on the blogs of participants. I didn't go there because I preferred to go to England. Northern countries are not so much my cup of tea, lol !
