Gemäldegalerie – Berlin, Germany

You know that feeling, when you see something
that touches and fills your heart with beauty?
Have you already felt that?

Title:Virgin and Child Enthroned with Saints, 1488
Painting by: Carlo Crivelli

Title: Boy with Bird c. 1616
Painted by: Peter Paul Rubens

And if you see something so exceptional,
that leads you in an almost surreal trip:

Title: Netherlandish Proverbs, 1559
Painting by: Pieter Bruegel

Which depicts a land populated with literal renditions of Flemish proverbs of the day, over 100 proverbs.

  1. I find it especially exciting to view the actual work of an artist…and you were also lucky to be able to shoot in the museum. Your photos are excellent, bringing out the colors and the many nuances intended by the artist.

Re your question, Cezar: There are two “downtowns” in The Villages – Spanish Springs and Lake Sumter Landing. Both have a central “market square” which contains a gazebo. There is live music and dancing every night of the year in both squares. Most people don't dance, but rather sit and enjoy the music. And drink!

  5. I spent hours in the Gemäldegalerie. I couldn't walk out. It seems you enjoyed it as much as I did and you chose three superb works of art. Since VP has already chosen the one I would have taken, I'll have the Rubens! 🙂

  9. I am amazed at the beauty of these paintings. You are so fortunate to see them up close. I felt the same way when we saw the Sistine Chapel . Just amazing.
