  1. Several things: 1) It is a gorgeous structure – the interior is amazing! 2) I wonder why the chancel is separated from the nave? 3) Love your new header of Luxembourg in autumn!

Oh, one more thing: Your photos are excellent, as usual!

  2. Another wonderful place as the two of you continue your march around the western hemisphere. Lugano is one of the places I have always wanted to see.

  3. What a gorgeous church, Leia! And your photos are superb as always! I've read so much about Lugano and would have loved to have been able to visit there when I lived in Europe! Hope you've enjoyed a great weekend, mon amie!

  4. I am always amazed at the artwork painted directly on the walls and ceilings in European churches. We are really missing something in Canada.

  5. The outside is not extravagant, so you would not expect the inside to be that spectacular. The frescoes are glorious.

  6. What we often forget (or even don't know) is that fabulous paintings like these were common in the Gothic churches and cathedrals. If you look closely in Nôtre Dame de Paris, you can see remnants of the paintings in places around the interior.

What a fine series of photos you've posted!

  7. Une petite boite à tresors, cachée au milieu des immeubles modernes!
Tout va bien , Leia! Merci de tes gentils mots. Nice a été relativement protégée, c'est dans la campagne autour qu'il y a des degats. Bisou!

  9. One of my favorite things when in Europe was to visit the beautiful churches like this. Wonderful.

OBTW, my blog is finally back, restored and in full swing. Thanks for your support!
