WWII Memorial – Hesperange, Luxembourg

WWII Memorial Dedication – to the three American GI’s from the B Company,
11th Tank Battalion, 10th Armored Division.
On December 26, 1944 their Sherman tank attempted to cross the ‘Hesper’ bridge
when suddenly it skidded into the river, killing three of the five soldiers inside.
William Keeler and Oscar L. Davis survived unlike Lewis W. Meade,
Isidore M. Vasko and James G. Russ.

  1. Very nice remembrance of those soldiers. My father was in Belgium at that time serving as a medic in the US Army during the Battle of the Bulge and was most likely in that vicinity.

  2. A wonderful post. Thank you for sharing this. It looks to be a very nice city. And your phone photos are just fine. I really like the juxtaposition of old and new!
